Is that a banana in your pocket?

We woke up to the flaming red sun today.  Still not the best shot, but at least we got one. It shares the memory at least.

Jeff had Thai breakfast (pork short rib soup & white rice), delicious.  Jenn had American breakfast (Harsh lightly cooked onion omelette with ornately fashioned Vienna sausages), not delicious.  Also, fresh pineapple, papaya and mandarin orange juice, delicious.

Next stop, local paper making.

We each made our own design and get to bring it home (after it is sun dried).

Jenn was a rock star at the local jewelry shop.  The shopkeeper/jewelry designer kept wanting to take pictures of her modeling.

Jeff enjoyed the local Thai Whiskey samples with the maker.  Only 100 baht.

We've been wanting to try the small Thai bananas. They're tasty; a little chewier and sweeter than the bananas we're all familiar with.  We stashed a couple for the bus.

Ever wonder where the water buffalo roam?

Thai tea Latte..... so vivid and bright even when it was empty.

We stopped at Phayao lake for beverages and a break.  The whole country seems hazy.  We aren't sure why.

The locals fish the lake and also harvest fresh shrimp.

We were introduced to jumping shrimp salad.  Cilantro, lemon grass, lime juice, fish sauce, chili powder, rice flour, and fresh "live" shrimp.

Yep we both tried it.  Pretty tasty, but you had to eat fast or they jump right out of the bowl or your spoon.

Our guide is trying very hard to make sure we have as many local Thai experiences as possible. Jumping shrimp salad was just one of those. Today he also introduced us to deep fried bamboo worms.  Which we can now say taste a lot like french fries. Don't worry, we're bringing enough home for everyone.

The best Pad Thai we have had to date.  A little chili, lime juice and sugar on top, bam!!  Another spectacular buffet.  Sesame Cream soup, curries, cakes, teas and fruit juices, all new to us.

Nap time.

Psych, nap time for everyone else.  We went to the spa for a one hour aroma massage.

Shopping for omiyage?
