Fathers Day

Woke up bit earlier than I might have liked today.  2:30 a.m. I slept off and on, not good and today my back is giving me trouble.  I'm not sure if the 5:00 a.m. dorm yoga session was a good idea or not now.

Still not a setback for adventuring.  I spent a good portion of the day walk around Big Ben, Westminster Abbey (had half a mind to go to church, but though better of it), Buckingham Palace and then finally Hyde Park to Speakers Corner (sadly there were no speakers).

That's the best photo I could come up with on my lonesome.  Not really comfortable passing my iGizmo to strangers.

I was at the Abbey early enough to get this pretty awesome photo of the entrance.

I wasn't patient enough to wait for the changing of the guard.  I don't think this ceremony can top the changing of the guard at Arlington Cemetary in the torrential downpour that we saw years ago.  So I passed on waiting with the masses.

Alas after a very long walk, there were no speakers at the extremely large park.  I was hoping to rent a bike to ride a bit, but was unable to get my credit card to work in the machines.  At least I hope they didn't.

Off to the pub for grub.  Last lunch on my own so I thought best to try more fish and chips.

Solid fare, but the London pub style was better on day one.  Yes, I know Sam, "Today Is Day One" too.

Off to the National Portraits Gallery, I saw all sorts of famous paintings.  Jenn of course will love seeing Monet's Garden when she gets there.  My favorite was one done in microscopic detail, already can't remember who it was, but it was spectacular.

This picture was an exact duplicate of my travel guide.  I thought that was kind of fun.  Of course theirs didn't have a popup building in it or the couple thousand people.

Just like that, back to the dorm to relax and take a short siesta that I desperately needed.

Off to meet my class for dinner tonight, introductions, agendas and such.

Hope you get to read this dad, Happy Fathers Day !!
